18A- Create a Customer Avatar

For this assignment I had to create the ideal prototypical customer avatar that matches the customer segment that I have identified in previous assignments. After a lot of thought and consideration, I have finally developed my ideal customer avatar.

     For the assignment, I will name my avatar John Adams (after the American patriot and historical John Adams). John is a forty-five year old, white male, who has just retired out of the United States Army after serving for 20 years. When he retired, John was ranked as sergeant first class in the army which is the seventh enlisted rank.
     John has a tan complexion, short dark hair, a clean shaven face, and brown eyes. You can tell by looking at John that he has seen some things over the years from the look on his face and the darkness in his eyes. John wears casual, yet professional clothing; typically sporting a casual button up tucked into his jeans, with hiking boots. John always carries a knife, lighter, and his FNS-9 pistol that he wears in a concealed back holster. John is quiet but friendly, and he enjoys being alone in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and hiking.
     John lives by himself in a small two bedroom, one and a half bath home on five acres in LaGrange, Georgia. His only family is his parents that live in the next city over in a small house in town. He has neighbors in his little rural neighborhood, but he keeps to himself. He has a dog named Remington that was a stray mutt that came to his house not long after he returned home, and he loves the dog dearly. He has a few chickens that free range around his property that he likes to keep around for eggs. John has a small jon boat that he takes to the lake near his house. He enjoys cooking up some of the fish that he catches on the lake for dinner. He typically grows a small garden every year. In the evenings, John enjoys drinking a few beers, and his beer of choice is Bud Light. John drives a charcoal grey 2012 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 four door truck.
     John is very patriotic. John is a conservative and a member of the Republican party. He is a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoys going to the shooting range frequently to help stay sharp. John has started to notice that his eyesight is not quite what it used to be, and he gets aggravated that  his age is starting to catch up to him over the past couple years. John has a television and his favorite channels to watch are the discovery and history channels. John does not like to watch the news much because of the one-sided stories that the different media stations provide. John attends the local baptist church every Sunday.
     John does not typically like to talk about the experiences that he had in the military, and he still sometimes gets anxiety thinking back on those experiences. John is bored since returning home, and he wants to try and find a job to supplement his military retirement. John does not have any real world experience, and he is unsure about how to even go about finding a job.

Similarities:

I can say that there are a few things that I have in common with my avatar. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. I too am a lifetime NRA member and enjoy shooting guns regularly. I also consider myself patriotic, and I am very conservative in my beliefs. I live in a rural area on ten acres, and I recently adopted a stray dog that wandered up to my house. I also drive  a truck. I prefer not to watch the news because of the false one-sided portrayals. I too enjoy eating seafood, and I like Bud Light. There are quite a few similarities between my avatar and I. I think that it is a good thing that I have so many similarities with my avatar because it will help me to be able to connect with him on a personal level. Being able to build an initial relationship with my customer and knowing their basic wants and needs can help maximize success in helping them out.
